What is an affiliate program?

An affiliate program is where an affiliate (person or organisation) promotes another organisation via their e-mail, website, blog, social media page (like Facebook) or other web presence. The affiliate is rewarded by the payment of a commission on sales generated by their promotion.

So for example you send an email, recommending a product that you have found useful, to everyone you think would be interested. The email contains your affiliate llink to www.indigo-herbs.co.uk. Some of your friends buy the Products and Indigo Herbs pays you a percentage of the sales.

Or in another example, you place an Indigo Herbs image or text link on your Facebook or website. People read your post, click on the link and visits our site. Some of them buy some Indigo Herbs Products and Indigo Herbs pays you a percentage of the sales.

It may be that the customer does not purchase anything on their initial visit to Indigo Herbs but returns a few days later to make a purchase. That's OK because visitors are tracked for 90 days

How does It work?

Our affiliate program is run using a software application that runs on our web server.

Afiliates who sign up to our affiliate program have their own secure access to the system which allows them to create text and banner adverts that will track any visitors to www.indigo-herbs.co.uk.

Visitor are tracked from the moment they click on a banner or text llink. This is usually done using either cookies or by IP tracking. Our affiliate programme software uses both methods. Cookie expiry is set to 90 days.

All visitors that come from an affiliate's banner or text link have their visits and orders recorded by our affiliate software. Affiliates can log in see their statistics including the commission they have earned at any time.

Commission is paid out monthly.

How much will I earn?

The amount you can earn from the Indigo Herbs affiliate program is essentially limitless. However, as with any affiliate scheme this boils down to your monthly traffic volumes, your click through rates, our conversion rates and the commission percentage.

Commission...When a visitor you refer makes their initial order, we pay 10% commission on the value of the order (not including tax or postage). If a visitor returns to www.indigo-herbs.co.uk and makes repeat orders before their cookie expires (90 days), we will also pay 10% on each re-order. This is regardless of whether they return to Indigo Herbs via your affiliate program links or not. If visitors continue to visit Indigo Herbs via your affiliate program links they will get a fresh cookie and you will continue to earn 10% commission on sales after the first 90 days.

Conversion Rates...One of the plus points of our affiliate scheme is that the business behind it has superb credentials. On average we convert 4% of traffic on our site to a sale. Our average sale is £35 and approximately 50% of new customers become regular customers and re-order on average every 3-4 weeks. This is a result of our commitment to competitive pricing, quality products and excellent customer service. It means our affiliate program is really worth getting involved in.

Click through rates...The click through rate (CTR) is the percentage of visitors to your website, blog, facebook etc. who will click through to Indigo Herbs. This depends on various factors including how well suited to our products your site's demographic is, where our banners or text ads are placed and how important your opinion is to your visitors. We normally expect click through rates between 2% and 10% .

Monthly Traffic Volume...Is the ammount of visitors your website, blog etc. gets.

Deep Linking... It is also possible to use a link direct to the herbal information page or product page within our site. If you require any deep links not shown, send us an email with your requirement and we will create it for you.
