Figs - Whole food
Latin name: Ficus carica
Also known as Higo, figue, feige, fico A widely appreciated fruit of the Mediterranean. Figs can trace their history back to the earliest of times with mentions in the Bible and other ancient writings. Dried Figs make a naturally sweet healthy fruit which can be eaten throughout the year. They provide many of the essential vitamins and minerals needed. Fig Preparations: Dried whole fruit
Fig Traditional recommended daily amount: A 40g serving per day is recommended, however figs can be enjoyed liberally as part of a recipe. A daily 40g serving will be 1 of the recommended 5 per day.
Contraindications of organic fig: None known. May have a laxative effect.
