Herbal Tinctures
What is a Herbal Tincture?
Tinctures are a liquid herbal preparation in Alcohol; this means that the active alkaloids in the herb are fixed on to the alcohol so that when it is taken, all the active herbal alkaloids are absorbed into the blood stream very quickly and fully. This makes them a lot stronger than any powder in a capsule, which are absorbed through the stomach wall slowly and some of the active alkaloids are lost. This means that Tinctures are Stronger than powders and the effects can be noticed much more quickly.
Advice and suggestions about taking Herbal Tinctures Herbal tinctures can be measurered using a teaspoon -1 teaspoon is 5ml, or better still a child's 5ml medicine spoon. We do supply a small 25ml plastic measuring cup with all tincture orders. To take place the correct amount of tincture in glass, and then add a very small amount of boiling water (20-30ml) this will evaporate some of the alcohol. Swish around, drink in one. We suggest that you take one day off herbs a week or one week per month, this maintains the effectiveness in the body. It is fine to mix herbs so long as you know what you are doing. I kindly suggest that you research herbs and there proprieties fully before use.
