Remuneration This job has been graded as a level 13 role, pay grades 43 to 46 - £29,289 to £31,083 (pro rata)

Location Largely remote with occasional face to face meetings throughout the year (depending on your home location).

Mission

Indigo Herbs’ mission is to make quality natural health & nutrition a choice that is available and affordable to everyone so that as many people as possible can take responsibility for their own health & nutrition, fulfil their greatest potential and collectively we can be the best we can.

In order to support our mission, we have a small tech team delivering solutions that support our business model as a direct-to-consumer producer with a multi-platform approach to the market which extends into Europe.

Our Projects

We're looking for a PHP Developer and all-rounder with a strong working knowledge of the LAMP stack, and a track record in developing integrated systems in the e-commerce and or enterprise resource management landscape.

Our flagship website combining e-commerce along side deep and rich information products and related service provision. We are currently migrating from our successful Magento / Drupal hybrid platform to a multi-language / currency capable Drupal 8 system. The platform has a variety of bespoke integrations to our order management, ERM, CRM, customer review, Elasticsearch and other services.

Indigo Enterprise

Our bespoke enterprise management system aggregates sales data from all our sales platforms, handling complex intra EU VAT, production / purchasing forecasting as well as driving our manufacturing facility.

Ansible

We use Ansible to manage and scale our technical infrastructure in partnership with our infrastructure service provider

What you’ll do

You’ll share responsibility delivering both the features that will continue to drive our strategy into the future and continuous improvement of our Tech Team itself. You’ll ensure high quality code is delivered in line with project goals and delivery cycles. You’ll thrive using agile methods and enjoy working openly, collaboratively and as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on one or more projects.

As a Developer at Indigo Herbs you will;

  • Build features to serve a variety of business needs, taking responsibility for the quality of code you produce
  • Implement toolkits and APIs for purposes such as integration, performance optimisation, security and scalability
  • Help us develop our automated testing / continuous deployment environment
  • Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developers and non-developers
  • Participate in our in-house support, and potentially out-of-hours support (you’ll be paid for any duties you perform when called out of hours)
  • Be involved in helping develop our ongoing tech strategy
  • Deputise for our Lead Developer

 

The successful applicant

We’re interested in people who:

  • Have experience in back-end development, with detailed knowledge of PHP
  • Understand software design principles
  • Research and learn new programming tools and techniques independently
  • Take a systematic approach to solving problems
  • Understand agile environments and version control
  • Have a good understanding about web security and accessibility
  • Have an awareness of technologies used for web applications, e.g databases, backups, CDNs and search, and the LAMP stack.,
  • Have experience working on, or with web technologies, ideally (although not essentially) Drupal.
