Harness the Power of Herbs in Tincture form with our simple "How To" Guide.
Tinctures or Fluid Extracts are a liquid herbal preparation in Alcohol. On each bottle it states the percentage of alcohol present, it also states the strength of the Tincture; for example: 1:3 means 1 part herb to 3 parts liquid. Herbal Extracts are often stronger and normally made to a 1:1 ratio.
The Tincture or Fluid Extract can be taken directly by adding the recommended amount to filtered water. Some people find the taste of tincture in water to be too bitter; in which case why not try a sweeter drink.
In some cases it is preferable to evaporate the alcohol before taking the Tincture or Fluid Extract. This is advised for children, the elderly, and if someone is sensitive to alcohol or recovering from alcohol addiction. This is very easy to do.

More information
Herbal Tinctures and Herbal Fluid extracts are an excellent way to preserve herbs and prolong their shelf life. This method can preserve the active phytochemicals in alcohol for up to four years. Herbs have been prepared this way traditionally for thousands of years. Because the active constituents of the herb have been extracted from the plant matter, this makes Tinctures and Herbal Extracts easily absorbable by the body, as the phytochemicals can enter directly into the blood stream. Tinctures are normally recommended to be taken three times per day, over a period of 4-6 weeks.
