Maria Lloyd Jones
I am passionate to support children and young people with epilepsy, seizures and autism on their health journey by offering Personalised Nutritional Therapy and Naturopathy health service in collaboration with Medical Health Professionals.
Caring for my daughter with complex drug resistant epilepsy and autism made realise the importance of a personalised optimal nutrition that will take into account her genetic predispositions, lifestyle, appetite and increased nutrient requirements as a result of many anti-seizure medications. The search for her health led me to study Personalised Nutritional Therapy, Naturopathy, Nutrigenomics and be involved in epilepsy research. I believe of the vital importance of integrative approach to epilepsy care where medical treatments and personalised nutrition and lifestyle interventions merge into wholistic healthcare.
My specialisms include: digestion, sleep, allergies and food intolerances, intestinal permeability, optimal nutrient intake considering multiple anti-seizure medications, immune system, bone and cognitive health.
Nutrigenomic testing is offered as part of the consultation and the results guide the personalised nutritional interventions.
Consultations also include guidance on practical approaches to living with epilepsy, such as seizure monitors and electronic seizure diaries and apps, bedding, head protection, risk assessments as well as epilepsy charities and specialised equipment.
My daughter was diagnosed with Autism and Lennox Gastaut Developmental and Epilepsy Encephalopathy DEE, one of the most severe forms of drug resistant epilepsy syndrome, 19 years ago.
