Elderberry Syrup is a fantastic natural remedy to make when you're feeling a little under the weather - it can assist with soothing a sore throat, banishing those sniffles or just making one of those lingering bugs a bit more bearable. Elderberries are packed with beneficial nutrients; Vitamin A, C & D and have powerful immune boosting properties. Follow this simple recipe to learn how to make your own Vegan Elderberry Syrup infused with spices and flavoured with agave.

Dosage: Take 1/2 teaspoon daily for children, or 1/2 tablespoon a day for adults. If you’re suffering from a cold or the flu, up the dose to 2-3 times daily.

  • Strainer
  • Large Jug

  1. Firstly, add the elderberries, ginger and cinnamon to the water, bring to the boil and simmer over a low heat for around 45 minutes.

  2. Then, when the liquid has reduced, strain the mixture into a jug, mashing the berries into the strainer, and then leave to cool.

  3. When cool, add the agave nectar and stir well.

  4. Keep in an airtight container and store in the fridge. 

  5. When you're feeling a bit run down take a dose and feel the benefits.
