Orange & Turmeric Loaf Cake Recipe

The Orange and Turmeric work delightfully together in this delicious cake with the quantity of turmeric being just enough to add a depth of flavour, without being overpowering.  This vegan recipe makes for a deliciously moist, zesty loaf that you'll find difficult to have just one slice of!

  • 250g Self Raising Flour
  • 150g Caster Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Juice and Grated Zest of 1 Orange
  • 200ml Non-dairy Milk
  • 100ml of Flavourless Oil
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Loaf Tin


  1.  Pre-heat the oven to 180°c and grease or line a loaf tin.
  2.  Measure out all the dry ingredients (excluding orange zest), add to a large mixing bowl and stir up.
  3.  Measure out the milk and oil and add the juice and zest of the orange to this.
  4.  Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stir briefly until just combined.
  5.  Pop the mix into the loaf tin and place it in the oven for around 35 minutes.
