A Spirulina base with lots of lovely fruit make this smoothy a pleasure to glup down! As Corinne points out, all the fruits perfectly mask the taste of Spirulina making this a perfect morning smoothie for those who find some superfoods difficult because of their taste. Not only is this smoothie packed full of nutrients but it's also got a good mineral content and has a good solid amount of protein. A lovely addition before exercise on a summers day.

Variations

This smoothie can be made as thick as you like. Add additional liquid to thin the consistency and make it more of a long drink, or hardly add any liquid at all and go for the thicky experience.

Benefits

Combining pears, strawberries, mangoes and blueberries make for a high fibre, antioxidant mix! Mangoes are especially rich in pre-biotic fibre, this improves our health by stimulating the production of beneficial flora in the gut. All of these fruits are exceptionally good sources of antioxidants, which alongside the spirulina will help to gently detox your body from harmful oxygen free radicals.

The inclusion of spirulina brings with it the "brain boosting" nutrition in this smoothie.  Rich in B vitamins; B1, B2, B3 and B6 - these are essential to the health of the nervous system, good memory and concentration and regulation of mood. Vitamin B3 is particularly potent in maintaining mental agility, is important for the proper functioning of brain cells and acts as a powerful detoxifier of the brain. It is also rich in minerals, including zinc, which plays a crucial role in memory formation and cognitive stability.

So if you're feeling a bit foggy or need your razor sharp wits about you then this is the smoothie for you!
