Ayurvedic Products

Ayurveda is an ancient system of holistic healing from India that is over five thousand years old. The name “Ayurveda,” comes from two Sanskrit words, “ayur” and “veda.” “Ayur” means life, and “veda” means sacred knowledge or science. “Ayurveda” is therefore translated as the sacred knowledge of life. Ayurveda is a holistic practice that supports our innate capacity for wellness. It’s foundation is built upon the nature of the five elements and how they show up and interact with our systems and environment. When incorporated as a lifestyle, Ayurveda can help us achieve and maintain balance.

Taking herbs in a Tincture or Fluid extract preparation is simple and easy. The tincture can be measured out in a small ml measuring cup, medicine cup or spoon, and the tincture can be taken directly.

However some people do find the bitter tincture taste to be too strong, so it may be a good idea to dilute the drops in water or fruit juice. For children, the elderly, those with a sensitive constitution or those avoiding alcohol, the alcohol can be evaporated from the tincture. This can be done by putting the drops in boiling water and leaving for 10 minutes to evaporate. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Tincture page.

After careful harvesting, selection and cleaning the Ashoka bark used to make this tincture undergoes a process of cold percolation in order to extract the active constituents into tincture form. The cold percolation method employs a gradient circulation of the solution which keeps the plant ingredients in perpetual contact with the ethanol. This technique is faster and more efficient than maceration and ensures there is less waste of precious plant materials. This premium quality product is manufactured to GMP standards and Certified Organic. It is 100% pure botanical ingredients, completely free of synthetic ingredients with absolutely nothing added.

Easy to take when diluted in a little water. Helps considerably with my anxiety and depression type symptoms. MUCH prefer the benefits of this tincture to those of other products that I have tried ie: Rhodeolla Rosea, Theanine with Lemon balm and high strength CBDoil (which was VERY expensive in comparison). I cannot praise this product enough.....I will be purchasing again.....and again....

A trusted source shared with me a three month ashwagandha trauma release process, which requires a small daily dose of the extract. I am only three weeks in and I'm noticing that my dreams are different. Far more emotional, heavy, thick. A few times I have woken up completely rattled, even though I wasn't having a nightmare. The source confirmed that trauma release happens during the dream-time, when taking ashwagandha. So the product is, in my view, excellent as it is doing what it's meant to. Shipping to Germany was also fast and everything went absolutely flawless. Thank you for this service and product.

Little did I know that it is most likely the stress response that's at the root of my hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Since taking ashwaganda, I am sweating much less than usual, I am sleeping better and without night sweats, and I am calmer during the day. I have also recently started combining Ashwagandha with Rhodiola and Schisandra for a combi punch to the face of stress, fatigue, recovery time after exercise and challenging emotional times. I am well impressed with this product. It's potent and totally works; in unexpected ways for some.

I'm still trying it out so don't feel able to comment on the effects yet. But the taste isn't nearly as bad as stated and I can take it without having to dilute it. I probably put my comment about the dropper bottle in the wrong place. I feel it could be improved as I'm finding the dose measurement imprecise because the lines on the small plastic cup are very faint. Would it be possible either to make the lines more distinct, or better still have marks on the actual dropper to show the dose?

Using Aromatherapy in your daily routine is simple, easy and can be enormously beneficial. Pure neat essential oils can be evaporated into the environment and inhaled while products that have already been diluted in an oil can be applied straight to the skin. There are lots of different ways to utilize the pure neat essential oils; these can be made into a room spray or used in an an essential oil burner/ vaporizer.

This is a lovely way to perfume an environment and essential oils are very good at affecting the mood, mind and emotions when evaporated into the air. Adding essential oils to your bath is the best way to ensure the oils are absorbed through the pores of the skin while also inhaling the vapors; maximum benefit can then be had whilst enjoying a soak. Additionally the neat oils can be diluted into a carrier medium. This can be a cream, body butter, face cream, vegetable body oil and bath salts to name a few. For full instructions go to our How to use Aromatherapy page.

Black Pepper essential oil can be used in the bath, or vaporized in an oil burner. It can be added to a massage oil or cream. Use 6-8 drops per bath and 10 -18 drops per 30ml of carrier oil. See Essential Oil Dosage Chart

  • 100% pure botanical ingredients - no solvents are used in the extraction process

Manufacture Process

Our essential oils are manufactured to GMP standards using steam distillation or cold pressing.

Indigo Herbs Black Pepper Essential Oil is extracted using the "steam distillation" method. In this process the botanical material is placed in a still and steam is forced over the material. The hot steam helps to release the aromatic molecules from the plant material since the steam forces open the pockets in which the oils are kept. Molecules of the volatile oils then escape and evaporate into the steam. The temperature of the steam needs to be carefully controlled - just enough to force the plant material to let go of the essential oil, yet not too hot as to burn the plant material or the essential oil. The steam now containing the essential oil is passed through a cooling system to condense the steam which forms a liquid. The essential oil is then separated from the water and bottled, resulting in 100% pure essential oil.

Pure Black Pepper Essential Oil

Essential oils need to be diluted first; never apply an essential oil directly to the skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth.

Using Herbal and Superfood powders on a daily basis is simple, easy and can be really delicious. The simplest way is to rehydrate the powder in a little filtered water to make a shot, this can easily be prepared once, twice or three times per day if you are taking the herbs therapeutically. However sometimes the herbs can be bitter so the botanical powders can be added to a superfood smoothie instead of just water. The smoothie can be made with a base of nut milk, seed milk or non-dairy milk such as rice milk. Alternatively the main body of the smoothie can be created with fruit or vegetable juices.

Additional superfood and herb powders can be added to fortify the smoothie with extra beneficial properties. The powders are largely dissolvable and can be scooped in and then blended, shaken or stirred until fully mixed with the liquid. Any true Superfood smoothie disciple would advise that the list of possibilities is endless with the goal to feel great and potentially replace a meal with this glass of super goodness. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Powders page.

Another option is to use a Capsule Machine that can be bought from the Indigo Herbs website. Filling capsules with your favourite herb has never been easier when you buy a Capsule machine. You can then be sure that the capsules you are taking are 100% pure ingredients without fillers added by some companies.

As well as normal culinary applications this Black Pepper Powder has certain traditional medical applications such as: mixed with ginger, cumin, cloves and salt. The powder is often made into a decoction and drunk. It can be applied topically by mixing with clarified butter/ ghee, or other preparations.

Serving:

A recommended dose of 2-6 grams daily of the powdered black pepper.

1 teaspoon equals 2 grams (1 tsp = 2g)
  • Produced to GMP standards.
  • Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs.
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
  • Re-sealable air tight, foil pouch.
  • 100% pure botanical ingredients, absolutely nothing added.

Manufacture Process

Indigo Herbs Black Pepper Powder comes from the finest pepper corns of the Piper nigrum plants. The tiny Gotu Kola leaves are used to create a Gotu Kola infusion, a subtle and soothing herbal infusion that is enjoyed in a number of Asian countries. In the wetlands of Asia, tiny green crescents, like lily pads growing on land, mark the appearance of Gotu Kola. Sometimes referred to by names such brahmi, centella or Indian pennywort, Gotu Kola is a hardy plant, and seems able to grow in abundance wherever moisture can be found. In India, Gotu Kola is held in high regard as a very spiritual plant. A number of Asian countries use Gotu Kola as a leafy green vegetable, as well as a common flavouring ingredient for traditional local beverages. Gotu Kola infusion is crafted from the leaves of the plant, and offers a subtle, refreshing herbal taste.

Making a delicious cup of tea with loose leaf herbs is simple and easy. Brewing loose leaves is a traditional art with many different styles and varying items of tea brewing equipment on the market. There are one cup teaballs that can be filled with loose leaves, flowers, and barks and submerged straight into a boiling cup of hot water and then left to infuse. The rule of thumb with brewing loose leaves is to allow them to fully release their beneficial aromatic phyto-chemical content.

This process is lovingly called brewing and takes 5-10 minutes so a tea cosy is recommended if you are using a pot. When making a pot of tea it is advised that you use one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per person and one for the pot. Any true tea maker who truly appreciates the art would recommend heating the pot first, and of course when the tea is fully infused it is absolutely necessary that the drinker sits down and takes a minute to enjoy! For full instructions go to our How to make Herbal Tea Page.

Manufacture Process

Indigo Herbs Cinnamon Powder comes from Cinnamon cassia trees grown on a plantation cultivated specifically for use as Cinnamon Powder. Once the Cinnamon trees have reached the age of 2 years they are cut to the stump and the stump covered in soil. The next year the stump will sprout branches that will grow from the stump and it is these branches that are used for cinnamon. The branches are cut when they have reached the required size and stripped of their outer bark. When left in the sun the inner bark comes apart and curls into quills that is seen specifically in cinnamon sticks. These quills are then graded into different sizes and qualities before being tested for pollutants and packaged up. This whole process complies with GMP standards and is quality assured by Indigo Herbs.

100% Pure Cinnamon zeylanicum Powder

Do not use cinnamon when breast feeding as it can be too irritating for a baby's digestive system.
