Bitter Melon Products

Native to Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, Bitter Melon has been used in ancient healing systems for millennia. Armed with the knowledge that bitter foods and herbs were cleansing to the body and good for the digestive system, the Chinese were attracted to this fruit's bitter taste. In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is used as a digestive tonic and for other stomach complaints.

In the Indian system of Ayurveda, Bitter Melon is considered one of the most important herbs for "ethnobotanical practices" - the study of folklore remedies to drive research towards modern usage. The Bitter Melon is still widely used as a vegetable in Asian cuisine, where it is commonly stir fried or used in soups.

Here at Indigo Herbs we are delighted to offer Organic Bitter Melon Teabags from Buddha Teas, a soothing herbal, subtle tasting tea that doesn't taste bitter at all.

Bitter melon is a member of the gourd family native to Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. It is a popular food ingredient in many of these countries and creates a truly unique herbal infusion. This uncommon infusion has been made using fruit and seeds of the bitter melon, also known as the bitter gourd or bitter squash. The bitter melon is a vine like plant that is native to Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. The fruit it produces are similar to cucumbers in size and colour, although they are somewhat narrower with a warty, uneven surface. While some may doctor its taste with sweeteners and other herbs, in many countries, bitter melon is frequently used in food and even prized for its flavour. In Okinawa, bitter melon is known as "goya", and is a popular ingredient in many traditional recipes, even used to make a variety of soft drinks.

Very happy with Indigo Herbs
Very happy with Indigo Herbs - the sage smudge stick smelled fresh and was more leaves than stems, which isn't always the case from other sources. The Cat's Claw also seems to be qualitative, although since I'm taking it with other tinctures I haven't tested it on its own.
