Bulgur Wheat Products

Bulgur Wheat is an ancient grain that originated in the Middle East around 5,000 years ago. It was considered and excellent, nutritious food as it resisted mould, insect attacks and could be stored for long periods of time. With a rich, nutty flavour it was traditionally prepared by partially boiling whole wheat groats until they cracked, allowing them to dry in the sun then grinding them down to different sizes for different uses. There are many villages in the Middle East that still use this ancient method to this day. Once prepared, Bulgur Wheat can be used in a similar way to rice and other grains, taking less time to cook and with a longer shelf life. This nutrition packed, fibre rich grain can also be roasted, fried or baked and used in a wide variety of dishes.
