Marigold Herbal Tincture - Marigold Flowers Tea

Marigold Herbal Tincture - Marigold Flowers Tea

This European plant has fascinated and captivated many generations throughout the world. From the Aztec’s to the Romans there are many different traditional uses for Marigold within different cultures. Here at Indigo Herbs we have three Marigold products that will inspire and bring this flower to the centre of your senses. Our top quality Marigold Flowers Tincture, Marigold Flowers Tea and Marigold Macerated Herbal Infused Oil are all refined to bring the essence of this flower into your lives.

In Mexico this plant has the opposite symbolism to Europe. Because of the Spanish invasion the Aztec’s came to take the Marigold as a sign of death and the destruction of their culture. This has carried forward into the modern day in Mexico where the Marigold is symbolically used during The Day of the Dead celebrations. Since the 12th century the Marigold has been seen as a symbol of love, illumination and happiness in Europe. The Herbalist Macer concluded that there would be improvements in eyesight just by looking at the plant. Also in many European esoteric rites Marigold was used for love magic and protection. In the 1560's, Albertus Magnus wrote in his 'Book of Secrets' that Marigold petals, a bay leaf and a wolfs tooth together were an amulet for ensuring that only peaceful words would be spoken to the wearer. Marigold was also called 'the poor man’s saffron' because it was an inexpensive herb used to flavour cooking during the middle ages.

Today Marigold has many different botanical varieties having been cross bred to change the colour and shape of the flowers. The height of the average Marigold can reach 12-24 inches tall, the leaves are a deep green and spread to a width of 12-18 inches. Flowers come in singles, doubles and semi-doubles. The colours can range from white through gold, yellow, and orange.

Taking herbal remedies in a Tincture or Fluid extract preparation is simple and easy. The tincture can be measured out into the small ml measuring cup that comes with each bottle. (A medicine cup or spoon could also be used) and the tincture can be taken directly.

However some people do find the bitter tincture taste to be too strong, so it may be a good idea to dilute the drops in water or fruit juice. For children, the elderly, those with a sensitive constitution or those avoiding alcohol, the alcohol can be evaporated from the tincture. This can be done by putting the drops in boiling water and leaving for 10 minutes to evaporate. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Tincture page.

Marigold Flowers Tincture can be added to water or fruit juice.

Serving:

Marigold Flowers Tincture:
Traditionally Taken: 1-2 ml upto 3 times per day.
or as directed by a Herbal practitioner.

20 drops from the glass dropper equals approximately 1ml.

  • Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs.
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
  • 100% pure botanical ingredients, absolutely nothing added.
  • Packaged in a pharmacoepial grade brown glass bottle with dropper.

Manufacture Process

The Marigold Flowers that make up Indigo Herbs Marigold Flowers Tincture come from a perennial that flowers from Spring to Autumn. The flower heads are plucked and dried out of direct sunlight to ensure all the active chemical constituents are kept in the petal matter. After drying, the flowers are screened and tested for pollutants so only best petals are included in the process of cold percolation in order to extract the active constituents into tincture form. The cold percolation method employs a gradient circulation of the solution which keeps the plant ingredients in perpetual contact with the ethanol. This technique is faster and more efficient than maceration and ensures there is less waste of precious plant materials. This premium quality product is manufactured to GMP standards and Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs. It is 100% pure botanical ingredients, completely free of synthetic ingredients with absolutely nothing added.

Except for the very rare person who is allergic to calendula, there are no known side effects or interactions. Not recommended during pregnancy.

Using Aromatherapy in your daily routine is simple, easy and can be enormously beneficial. Pure neat essential oils can be evaporated into the environment and inhaled while products that have already been diluted in an oil can be applied straight to the skin. There are lots of different ways to utilize the pure neat essential oils; these can be made into a room spray or used in an an essential oil burner/ vaporizer.

This is a lovely way to perfume an environment and essential oils are very good at affecting the mood, mind and emotions when evaporated into the air. Adding essential oils to your bath is the best way to ensure the oils are absorbed through the pores of the skin while also inhaling the vapors; maximum benefit can then be had whilst enjoying a soak. Additionally the neat oils can be diluted into a carrier medium. This can be a cream, body butter, face cream, vegetable body oil and bath salts to name a few. For full instructions go to our How to use Aromatherapy page.

This Marigold Oil can be applied directly to the skin to nourish and protect.
BLENDS WELL WITH: Other carrier oils and essential oils. Use 10% Calendula oil to a 90% ratio of a lighter carrier oil such as Sweet Almond, Grapeseed or Wheatgerm oil. Use 30ml of this blend for a full body massage. It can be applied directly to a troubled skin area.

20 drops from the glass dropper equals approximately 1ml.

  • Produced to GMP standards.
  • Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs.
  • 100% pure botanical ingredients, absolutely nothing added.
  • Bottled in a pharmacoepial grade brown glass bottle.

Manufacture Process

Our essential oils are manufactured to GMP standards using steam distillation, extraction or expression. During steam distillation the plant matter is put into boiling water or infused with steam. The steam is collected and the oils are separated from the water. During extraction, a solvent is used to extract the oil, by creating a concrete. This concrete is made up of plant matter, resins, waxes, and essential oils. A second solvent, such as ethyl alcohol is used to extract the essential oils from the concrete, this creates an absolute. During expression the plant matter is pressed (at cool temperatures) to release the oils.

Do not ingest.

Making a delicious cup of tea with loose leaf herbs is simple and easy. Brewing loose leaves is a traditional art with many different styles and varying items of tea brewing equipment on the market. There are one cup teaballs that can be filled with loose leaves, flowers, and barks and submerged straight into a boiling cup of hot water and then left to infuse. The rule of thumb with brewing loose leaves is to allow them to fully release their beneficial aromatic phyto-chemical content.

This process is lovingly called brewing and takes 5-10 minutes so a tea cosy is recommended if you are using a pot. When making a pot of tea it is advised that you use one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per person and one for the pot. Any true tea maker who truly appreciates the art would recommend heating the pot first, and of course when the tea is fully infused it is absolutely necessary that the drinker sits down and takes a minute to enjoy! For full instructions go to our How to make Herbal Tea Page.

The product was well packaged, arrived very quickly and was reasonably priced. The quality is very good and exactly what I was expecting. I am more than happy with my purchase. However the constant badgering to leave a review has been somewhat annoying. However, great product and great company, will be using again.
