Do not take Cat's Claw if on blood thinning medication. It is not recommended to take Cat’s Claw if you have scheduled surgery.
Large quantities can cause stomach upset because of the large number of tannins in the bark. It is recommended to increase dose in increments to lessen the symptoms of detoxification.

The greatest phytochemical properties of the Cat’s Claw vine lay in the bark of the plant. The plant must be at least 8 years old before it can be harvested for its bark. After careful selection and cleaning the plant material undergoes a process of cold percolation in order to extract the active constituents into tincture form. The cold percolation method employs a gradient circulation of the solution which keeps the plant ingredients in perpetual contact with the ethanol. This technique is faster and more efficient than maceration and ensures there is less waste of precious plant materials.
