Chaga belongs to the Hymenochaetaceae family of fungi and grows mostly on Birch trees. It loves to spawn in colder more temperate climates where the Birch is exposed to harsh weather conditions. It is thought that the Chaga spores form a symbiotic relationship with the Birch making sure both species are advanced in growth through this bond. The Chaga mushroom grows high up on the Birch tree, and is harvested in spring and summer. The mushroom absorbs the nutrients and compounds from the tree and makes it more available to humans. Chaga lives in a symbiotic relationship with the birch tree.
