Clavohuasca is a tough woody vine that grows tall to a height of 80 meters. When in flower this vine produces small white blooms and minute round fruits. One of the names of Clavo huasca is clove-vine and has come about from the bark and the root having the distinctive aroma of cloves. When the vine is cut and segment inspected there are two distinct colours to the wood; one golden and the other reddish in colour arranged like a cross. Clavo huasca is quite common among the trees of the rainforest.
