Hand harvested in the clear mineral rich waters off the coast of Japan then it is washed then hung on ropes and left to slowly dry in the sun. Unlike most commercial wakame, Clearspring Wakame is not treated with softening agents such as enzymes or monosodium glutamate (MSG). It is especially delicious added to miso soup, sauteed with onions or served with blanched greens. It also combines especially well with cucumber, spring onions and ginger with a lime juice & miso vinegar dressing. Wakame is naturally rich in iodine. People sensitive to the effects of iodine are advised to seek medical advice before consuming this product.

To prepare, simply wash and soak in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes. Drain well and rinse briefly. If desired, remove the stalk and chop into pieces. For soups and stir-fries, add the softened wakame at the end of cooking to retain its subtle flavour.
