Taking herbs in a Tincture or Fluid extract preparation is simple and easy. The tincture can be measured out in a small ml measuring cup, medicine cup or spoon, and the tincture can be taken directly.

However some people do find the bitter tincture taste to be too strong, so it may be a good idea to dilute the drops in water or fruit juice. For children, the elderly, those with a sensitive constitution or those avoiding alcohol, the alcohol can be evaporated from the tincture. This can be done by putting the drops in boiling water and leaving for 10 minutes to evaporate. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Tincture page.

Devil’s Claw Tincture can be added to water or fruit juice.

Devil’s Claw Tincture:
Traditionally Taken: Take 2-3 ml 2-3 times per day.
or as directed by a Herbal practitioner.

20 drops from the glass dropper equals approximately 1ml.

The phytochemical properties of the Devil’s Claw plant are stored in its bulbous secondary roots that grow from the primary root. In order to make sure the plant dose not die during harvest, plant experts must dig holes at the side of the plant to get to the juicy secondary roots and cut them off. Not all the bulbous secondary roots are cut away; this means the plant will still be able to grow more during the next rainy season. The harvested roots are then thoroughly cleaned before undergoing a process of cold percolation in order to extract the active constituents into tincture form. The cold percolation method employs a gradient circulation of the solution which keeps the plant ingredients in perpetual contact with the ethanol. This technique is faster and more efficient than maceration and ensures there is less waste of precious plant materials. This premium quality product is manufactured to GMP standards and Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs. It is 100% pure botanical ingredients, completely free of synthetic ingredients with absolutely nothing added.

Harpagophytum procumbens, Alcohol, Water

People with heart disease or high or low blood pressure should ask their doctors before taking devil’s claw.

Devil’s Claw might also thin the blood and so people taking blood thinning medication should consult a doctor before taking this herb.

I was diagnosed with sciatica and someone suggested this remedy. Although the diagnosis has changed, I continued taking this because it was helping with the pain and with getting some sleep. It tastes vile but if I have it in a cup of fruit tea then it's fine!
