Grapefruit Essential Oil 10ml from Indigo Herbs is a stimulating and refreshing aromatherapy oil with a sharp citrus smell and characteristic tang. Extracted using the "cold pressing" method, this cleanly scented oil was traditionally used as a cleanser and stimulant for various bodily systems. When inhaled it is said to produce mental clarity and Grapefruit oil can also be diluted in a carrier oil and massaged into the body to kick start a sluggish lymphatic system and remove excess fluids. Its crisp, sharp smell means that this essential oil works well in a diffuser, eliminating unpleasant odours in and around the house.

Grapefruit essential oil can be used in the bath for relieving tiredness, stress, apathy and nervous exhaustion or it can be vapourised in an oil burner to create an uplifting and rejuvenating atmosphere. It can be added to a massage oil and used as a detoxifying rub, and when added to a face cream it can be used for problem skin. See How to use Essential Oils

Using Aromatherapy in your daily routine is simple, easy and can be enormously beneficial. Pure neat essential oils can be evaporated into the environment and inhaled while products that have already been diluted in an oil can be applied straight to the skin. There are lots of different ways to utilize the pure neat essential oils; these can be made into a room spray or used in an an essential oil burner/ vaporizer.

This is a lovely way to perfume an environment and essential oils are very good at affecting the mood, mind and emotions when evaporated into the air. Adding essential oils to your bath is the best way to ensure the oils are absorbed through the pores of the skin while also inhaling the vapors; maximum benefit can then be had whilst enjoying a soak. Additionally the neat oils can be diluted into a carrier medium. This can be a cream, body butter, face cream, vegetable body oil and bath salts to name a few. For full instructions go to our How to use Aromatherapy page.

Grapefruit essential oil can be used in the bath, or vapourised in an oil burner. It can be added to a massage oil or cream. Use 6-8 drops per bath and 10 -18 drops per 30ml of carrier oil. See Essential Oil Dosage Chart

Manufacture Process

Our essential oils are manufactured to GMP standards using steam distillation or cold pressing.

Indigo Herbs Grapefruit Essential Oil is extracted using the “cold pressing” method. Plants and plant parts (such as the rinds of fruits) are placed in a spike-filled container and slowly punctured. The cold press machines also utilise centrifugal force to help separate the oil from the rest of the plant pulp and liquid. The puncturing and spinning process releases the essential oils, which are then collected and bottled resulting in 100% pure essential oil.

Essential oils need to be diluted first; never apply an essential oil directly to the skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. Avoid if you are taking homeopathic remedies.
