With a pleasant nutty taste and highly nutritious our Whole Hemp Seeds produce many health benefits. One of the most nutritionally complete foods in the world, they are a complete protein (containing all 9 of the essential amino acids) in highly digestible form - the two main proteins present are the high quality storage proteins edestin and albumin which are easily digested, contain nutritionally significant amounts of all the essential amino acids and are especially high in arginine. These storage proteins have a similar cellular structure to a protein manufactured in human blood which is why this hemp protein is so easily digestible making these seeds an excellent source of plant based protein for vegetarians and vegans. They also contain the essential fatty acids in the perfect ratio to meet human nutritional needs with a perfect balance of Omega 3 to Omega 6.
Hemp seeds are a rich source of vitamins and minerals – high in vitamins E and D (in fact hemp is one of the few plant based sources of this important sunshine vitamin) and the essential minerals; iron, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc – just 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds meets 50% of the daily value for magnesium and phosphorus, 25% the daily value of zinc and 15% the daily value of iron. Meeting your daily magnesium and phosphorus needs is important for bone health, zinc supports the immune system and iron is necessary for delivering oxygen throughout your body.

Indigo Herbs Whole Hemp Seeds are grown adhering to strict quality assurance regulations. Although our seed is not organic, the Cannabis sativa cultivar requires very little assistance to grow to its fullest potential. This is because of the hemp plants natural endurance to many environmental conditions eliminating the need for pesticides and other chemicals. In many hemp fields even weeds are scarce since high density planting and a strong root system eliminate the need to treat soil for undesirable plant species. After about 100 days the plant reaches full maturity and the seeds are extracted from the plant when they acquire the right colour and sheen. From harvest the seeds are thoroughly cleaned and selected for desirable size before being dried in hot air dyers with temperatures reaching no higher than 35°C. After this process the seed is ready to be shipped.
