We tend to see salt demonised in this day and age, this is because processed or “table salt” is heated to 1200 deg F which completely strips it of its mineral content. It is then bleached which leaves a major imbalance - processed salt contains 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% industrial fillers with virtually none of the vital trace minerals found in unprocessed salt.
Himalayan Salt is also known as “pink gold”, providing all of the minerals and trace elements which are available in colloidal form – meaning that they are more easily absorbed. This salt in its native form helps to promote a healthy balance in the body, promoting balanced electrolytes which are conducive to the body’s function. Believed to be composed of the dried remnants of the original primal sea on earth, Himalayan Salt is thought to be the purest salt on earth. It is said to contain all of the 84 trace nutrients required by the human body to function at its optimum capacity – hence the reason it was so valuable to our ancestors.

Himalayan Salt more or less comes from only one place on the planet - the Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan. At this location the salt has been mined for centuries and used in a number of ways. The great big blocks of rock salt are sometimes used for craft as well as condiment. A very simple process results in this fine grade Pink Himalayan Salt. Firstly the salt is mined, then ground and shaken to check for impurities. After a sifting process the Himalayan salt is further ground into a fine grained powder. This is all the processing that is needed to make this fine grain Himalayan pink salt.
Eating too much salt can raise blood pressure if consumed in large aounts over a prolonged period of time.
