Lady's Mantle Products

Lady's Mantle Products

Just as its name suggests, Lady’s Mantle is a potent women’s herb whose botanical name “Alchemilla” is derived from the word “alchemy”. The droplets of water that formed on its leaves were thought to be the purest form of water – so pure that it could be used to produce the Philosopher’s Stone.

Lady's Mantle is an attractive perennial plant, its soft gray-green foliage is semi-round with scalloped-shaped leaves. In late spring and early summer, the plant produces nearly inconspicuous chartreuse (yellow-green) blooms. With a long history of traditional use, the leaves and flowers are used in herbalism for all manner of women's issues.

Indigo Herbs is delighted to offer three high quality examples of this versatile herb: Lady's Mantle Tincture, Lady's Mantle Powder and Lady's Mantle Tea.

Using Herbal and Superfood powders on a daily basis is simple, easy and can be really delicious. The simplest way is to rehydrate the powder in a little filtered water to make a shot, this can easily be prepared once, twice or three times per day if you are taking the herbs therapeutically. However sometimes the herbs can be bitter so the botanical powders can be added to a superfood smoothie instead of just water. The smoothie can be made with a base of nut milk, seed milk or non-dairy milk such as rice milk. Alternatively the main body of the smoothie can be created with fruit or vegetable juices.

Additional superfood and herb powders can be added to fortify the smoothie with extra beneficial properties. The powders are largely dissolvable and can be scooped in and then blended, shaken or stirred until fully mixed with the liquid. Any true Superfood smoothie disciple would advise that the list of possibilities is endless with the goal to feel great and potentially replace a meal with this glass of super goodness. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Powders page.

Another option is to use a Capsule Machine that can be bought from the Indigo Herbs website. Filling capsules with your favourite herb has never been easier when you buy a Capsule machine. You can then be sure that the capsules you are taking are 100% pure ingredients without fillers added by some companies.

Lady's Mantle Powder can be added to smoothies, encapsulated or mixed with a little water or juice.

A typical dosage of Lady's Mantle is ½g- 1g of powdered bark up to three times per day.

The plants used to make Indigo Herbs Lady's Mantle Powder are harvested at peak potency.  After the best leaves have been selected they are freeze dried before being milled into a fine powder. The Chickweed Powder is then tested for heavy metals and toxins before being shipped.

Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Some herbalists recommend taking Lady’s Mantle in the last few weeks of pregnancy to prepare the uterus for labour and prevent hemorrhage. Please always check with your healthcare provider before using any herbs during pregnancy.

Making a delicious cup of tea with loose leaf herbs is simple and easy. Brewing loose leaves is a traditional art with many different styles and varying items of tea brewing equipment on the market. There are one cup teaballs that can be filled with loose leaves, flowers, and barks and submerged straight into a boiling cup of hot water and then left to infuse. The rule of thumb with brewing loose leaves is to allow them to fully release their beneficial aromatic phyto-chemical content.

This process is lovingly called brewing and takes 5-10 minutes so a tea cosy is recommended if you are using a pot. When making a pot of tea it is advised that you use one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per person and one for the pot. Any true tea maker who truly appreciates the art would recommend heating the pot first, and of course when the tea is fully infused it is absolutely necessary that the drinker sits down and takes a minute to enjoy! For full instructions go to our How to make Herbal Tea Page.

Infuse 1-2 teaspoons of Lady's Mantle tea per cup of boiling hot water. Let the tea brew for 5 - 15 minutes. Strain and enjoy up to 3 times per day.

Lady's Mantle Tea is made from the very best examples of Lady's Mantle leaves dried and cut for loose leaf tea. This process is generally a simple one where the leaves are harvested and selected for quality before they are dried in shade. When nearly all of the moisture has evaporated from the leaves there is another selection process before they are cut to size for loose leaf tea. The Lady's Mantle Tea is then tested for foreign chemical profiles before being made ready for shipment.

Taking herbal remedies in a Tincture or Fluid extract preparation is simple and easy. The tincture can be measured out in a small ml measuring cup, medicine cup or spoon, and the tincture can be taken directly.

However some people do find the bitter tincture taste to be too strong, so it may be a good idea to dilute the drops in water or fruit juice. For children, the elderly, those with a sensitive constitution or those avoiding alcohol, the alcohol can be evaporated from the tincture. This can be done by putting the drops in boiling water and leaving for 10 minutes to evaporate. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Tincture page.

Lady's Mantle Tincture can be added to water or fruit juice and taken when required.

Traditionally Taken: 2-3ml taken 2-3 times per day, or as directed by a Herbal Practitioner.

20 drops from the glass dropper equals approximately 1ml.

After careful harvesting, selection and cleaning the Lady's Mantle leaves used to make this tincture undergo a process of cold percolation in order to extract the active constituents into tincture form. The cold percolation method employs a gradient circulation of the solution which keeps the plant ingredients in perpetual contact with the ethanol. This technique is faster and more efficient than maceration and ensures there is less waste of precious plant materials. This premium quality product is manufactured to GMP standards and Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs. It is 100% pure botanical ingredients, completely free of synthetic ingredients with absolutely nothing added.

Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Some herbalists recommend taking Lady’s Mantle tea in the last few weeks of pregnancy to prepare the uterus for labour and prevent hemorrhage. Please always check with your healthcare provider before using any herbs during pregnancy.

This is the only place I have found…
This is the only place I have found where I can buy a range of loose herbal teas. I've gone back to brewing tea in a pot, it's so much better. The herbs arrived quickly - only one grumble; it would be useful to have different pack sizes for the teas.
