Taking herbs in a Tincture or Fluid extract preparation is simple and easy. The tincture can be measured out in a small ml measuring cup, medicine cup or spoon, and the tincture can be taken directly.

However some people do find the bitter tincture taste to be too strong, so it may be a good idea to dilute the drops in water or fruit juice. For children, the elderly, those with a sensitive constitution or those avoiding alcohol, the alcohol can be evaporated from the tincture. This can be done by putting the drops in boiling water and leaving for 10 minutes to evaporate. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Tincture page.

Liquorice Tincture can be added to water or fruit juice.

Liquorice Tincture:

20 drops from the glass dropper equals approximately 1ml.

  • Produced to GMP standards.

Manufacture Process

All Liquorice plants are over 3 years old before the mature root is dug up for harvest. The roots are cut away, cleaned, inspected for quality and damage before being air dried out of direct sunlight and tested for pollutants and foreign chemical profiles. The dried root then undergoes a process of cold percolation in order to extract the active constituents into tincture form. The cold percolation method employs a gradient circulation of the solution which keeps the plant ingredients in perpetual contact with the ethanol. This technique is faster and more efficient than maceration and ensures there is less waste of precious plant materials. This premium quality product is manufactured to GMP standards and Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs. It is 100% pure botanical ingredients, completely free of synthetic ingredients with absolutely nothing added.

Glycyrrhiza glabra, Alcohol, Water

Liquorice should not be taken by people on digoxin-based drugs. It should also be avoided during pregnancy and in cirrhosis of the liver.

It may interfere with the calcium and potassium absorption. Do not use if you are suffering from osteoporosis, hypertension (increases water around heart).

A good tincture from Indigo. The contraindications could be a bit stronger - I'm only using this for a month because of the possibility of the adverse effect on the adrenal glands (pseudo-aldosteronism) causing a serious imbalance (reversible) of sodium and potassium, even if formerly healthy.

I have been using this for over a year, I ought to buy it in bulk! Again, have tried slightly cheaper brands from eBay. Also tried glycerin in other brands. I can assure you this is stronger, other liquorice tinctures are not as dark in colour or as effective. My opinion only. I take this as part of my health plan for an under active thyroid.

I take this once a day with a little water and it does seem to work most of the time for my acid reflux.

This tincture is potent and doing the job I purchased it to do (part of my herbal Lyme protocol).
