Indigo Herbs Milk Thistle products are produced with the highest quality standards in mind so that you can benefit from the health giving ingredients held by this plant. Choose from Milk Thistle Seed Powder, Milk Thistle Tincture, Milk Thistle 80% Extract Powder and Milk Thistle Capsules.
Having a fairly long history, Milk Thistle has been used for more than 2,000 years. The first recorded use was by Dioscorides, a Roman botanist and early pharmacologist who authored the 1,500 year old De Materia Medica. Not only was the Milk Thistle used in Europe; there is evidence that it was used in Asia within Indian Ayurvedic Medicine and also by Native American Indians. European legend tells that when the Virgin Mary was feeding the baby Jesus a little milk was split onto a thistle beneath her feet which caused the leaf veins to become white. Although the uses of this plant differ from country to country it is usually the seed that is most commonly used today.
Milk Thistle is part of the Asteraceae family and is annual plant meaning that it completes its life cycle within one year. Sometimes growing up to 2 metres in height Milk Thistle grows in a conical shape, with fleshy spiky leaves, and the classic burst of red/purple flowers through the summer months. The seed of the Milk Thistle resembles the seed of the dandelion with many hairs attached so that it might be carried along on a breeze to be germinated further afield.
Excellent service and fast delivery. Love the amazing choice? I’m just sitting down with a catnip and hemp cup of tea to help with my anxiety and I think it’s really made me feel calmer? Will definitely be ordering again
