Neem Products

Neem is one of the most widely used and well-studied herbs of our times. It has a very broad range of therapeutic applications and many others from agriculture to contraception.  Here at Indigo Herbs we hold a pure Organic Neem Powder that is second to none being the same that has been used by Ayurvedic practitioners for thousands of years.

Neem is traditionally used for its antibacterial properties and well known for clearing the complexion and eradicating blemishes. Currently, the oldest evidence for the use of Neem comes from the anciant Indus Valley Civilization known as the Harappan. Studies into Neem were performed by Medical Practitioners of this ancient culture which tells us that Neem was already a household medicine nearly 5000 years ago. Neem was earlier used in households for giving a bath to newly born infants, protect people from insect bites and also used to protect plants as Neem contains insecticidal properties. It was also widely used to cure skin ailments. Neem's name derives from the Sanskrit Nimba, and it was known as the Sarva Roga Nivarini or 'Curer of All Illnesses'. The Sanskrit treatises Charaka Samhita, Susrutha Samhita and Brihat Samhita, compiled between 6th century BC and 6th century AD, mention Neem's properties dozens of times. The Neem tree has been intimately connected with the everyday life of Indian people for thousands of years. Today forest and agricultural treatises recommended Neem for soil protection, revival and for pest-repelling while in health circles there is a resurgence in the traditional uses of this tree.

Native to India the Neem tree is part of the genus Azadirachta of which there are only two species. This ever green tree is very fast growing and can reach heights of 15-20 meters. The leaves of the Neem tree flow from branches similar to willow and are feather like and hardy. The flowers are white, small and each tree will exhibit both sexes.

Manufacture Process

Cultivation of the Neem trees used for Indigo Herbs Organic Neem Powder are nurtured under certified Organic Standards as well as Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP). The collection, selection and drying methods of Neem leaves are all closely scrutinized maximizing quality throughout the process of harvest. Authorized botanists check and identify all leaf material before it is dried and then finely milled into powder making sure there are no foreign bodies or pollutants within the finished product. Indigo Herbs Organic Neem Powder is also in compliance with both European and Indian Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia standards. In short, every bit of care and attention has been sought to bring you this high quality Organic product.

Neem should be avoided if pregnant or trying to conceive. Neem leaf has been used by millions of people over millennia and no hazards have been documented for normal dosages. Because of its hypoglycaemic effect, diabetics must monitor blood sugar levels carefully when supplementing with Neem leaf, which may cause significant increases in blood sugar levels resulting in hypoglycaemia.

I have been trying for over two years to rid my body of Candida, the doctors had me on some new medication that can severely affect your liver for over 6 months, which did nothing. I have been taking Neem for about a month and I see improvements already!!

I have been drinking this tea for about two years. I have one cup before I go to bed. Basically one desert spoon of tea in a large mug. I drink everything including the leaves. Generally I feel more relaxed afterwards and sleep better. The effects vary depending upon how stressed I am about various factors in my life ongoing. Its life get used to it. Basically, however, the tea helps me to relax.
