Oregon Grape Products
A flowering, evergreen shrub in the Barberry Family, native to western North America, the Berberis aquifolium plant reaches a height of 2m. It has glossy, spiny leaflets that resemble holly leaves, dense clusters of fragrant, yellow flowers and dark blueish-black, dusty berries which are reminiscent of grapes, hence the common name Oregon Grape. Traditionally, the tart tasting berries form part of the diet of Pacific North-western indigenous tribes, who also use different parts of the plant to treat a wide variety of ailments. The Oregon Grape Roots are known for their cleansing properties thanks to an abundant level of berberine, the yellow colour of the roots is a visual marker for this alkaloid component. Indigo Herbs is delighted to offer our new Oregon Grape Root Tincture which harnesses the power of this potent herb in easy to take tincture form.
