Parsley is a branching, biennial herb that is native to the Mediterranean and has been widely cultivated for its aromatic leaves that are popularly used to flavour cooking and as a garnish. Its botanical name "Petroselinum crispum" comes from the Greek word for stone, "petro", given to Parsley because it was found growing on rocky hillsides in Greece.
There is much folklore and myth surrounding this ancient herb. The Romans did not eat Parsley, rather they wore wreaths around their heads during feasts to ward off intoxication. In English folklore it was thought that giving away Parsley would bring bad luck.
Traditionally used as a digestive aid, Parsley was commonly made into a herbal tea and consumed before meal times. In that vein, Indigo Herbs is delighted to offer Organic Parsley Leaf Tea from the Buddha Tea range. With a refreshing, herby taste, this nutrient rich tea can be enjoyed any time.
