Red Clover Products

Red Clover Products

The benefits of this wild European plant have spread far and wide. Red Clover was brought to the Americas by the first settlers and was admired for its outstanding properties by the Native Americans who swiftly adopted the plant into their herb lore. Indigo Herbs offers two pure Red Clover products in the form of Red Clover Tincture and Red Clover Flowers Tea. Hopefully you’ll agree that Red Clover is worthy of the same respect paid by the indigenous Native Americans for being able to help a whole range of bodily complaints.

Red Clover was particularly significant for the Christians of the medieval period who likened the three bladed leaf to the holy trinity. The crescent markings on the leaves were also thought to be an indication that Red Clover could help with cataract following the Doctrine of Plant Signatures. The plant is also loved by animals and insects. Even today it is a favourite feed for cattle because of its high nutritional content. The plant has been given the title Bee Bread because bees love the sweet smelling flowers. The plant itself is a survivor and can pick up nitrogen molecules, from special nodules, from the air if it isn’t getting enough from the earth.

Perennial, sometimes biennial herb; leaves with three leaflets with a long leaf stalk, upper leaves sometimes have no stalk. The flowering head is short-stalked or stalkless and comprises many flowers which are about 10-15 mm long and a rose-purple colour. The small oblong fruit pod is retained within the mature flower and opens to shed the seeds.

Taking herbal remedies in a Tincture or Fluid extract preparation is simple and easy. The tincture can be measured out into the small ml measuring cup that comes with each bottle. (A medicine cup or spoon could also be used) and the tincture can be taken directly.

However some people do find the bitter tincture taste to be too strong, so it may be a good idea to dilute the drops in water or fruit juice. For children, the elderly, those with a sensitive constitution or those avoiding alcohol, the alcohol can be evaporated from the tincture. This can be done by putting the drops in boiling water and leaving for 10 minutes to evaporate. For full instructions go to our How to take Herbal Tincture page.

Red Clover Flowers Tincture can be added to water or fruit juice.

Serving:

Red Clover Flowers Tincture:
Traditionally Taken: 2-5ml up three times a day.
or as directed by a Herbal practitioner.

20 drops from the glass dropper equals approximately 1ml.

  • Produced to GMP standards.
  • Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs.
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
  • 100% pure botanical ingredients, absolutely nothing added.
  • Packaged in a pharmacoepial grade brown glass bottle with dropper.

Manufacture Process

The red clover flowers that make up Indigo Herbs Red Clover Tincture is a perennial that flowers in summer. The flower heads are plucked and dried out of direct sunlight to ensure all the active chemical constituents are kept in the petal matter. After dying, the flowers are screened and tested for pollutants so only best and purest petals are included in the process of cold percolation in order to extract the active constituents into tincture form. The cold percolation method employs a gradient circulation of the solution which keeps the plant ingredients in perpetual contact with the ethanol. This technique is faster and more efficient than maceration and ensures there is less waste of precious plant materials. This premium quality product is manufactured to GMP standards and Quality Assured by Indigo Herbs. It is 100% pure botanical ingredients, completely free of synthetic ingredients with absolutely nothing added.

If taking blood thinning medication consult doctor before taking Red clover. Not known to interfere with prescription hormone replacement drugs such as HRT. It is not recommended for women on estrogen based birth control pills.

Excellent product in a dropper style bottle so you can quickly get the correct quantity. As far as I am aware the tincture is correctly made up from red clover flowers and alcohol. I have taken this tincture for awhile and it seems to have a positive effect.

Making a delicious cup of tea with loose leaf herbs is simple and easy. Brewing loose leaves is a traditional art with many different styles and varying items of tea brewing equipment on the market. There are one cup teaballs that can be filled with loose leaves, flowers, and barks and submerged straight into a boiling cup of hot water and then left to infuse. This process is lovingly called brewing and takes 5-10 minutes so a tea cosy is recommended if you are using a pot. When making a pot of tea it is advised that you use one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per person and one for the pot. Any true tea maker who truly appreciates the art would recommend heating the pot first, and of course when the tea is fully infused it is absolutely necessary that the drinker sits down and takes a minute to enjoy! For full instructions go to our How to make Herbal Tea Page.
