Red Kidney Bean Products
Red Kidney Beans are a variety of the common bean and are named for their resemblance in shape and colour to a kidney. Native to Central and South America, these protein rich beans are full of fibre, B vitamins and essential minerals, and as such have played a part in the staple diets of native tribes for millennia. Their distinctive red colour is imparted by the type of phytonutrients they contain - anthocyanins - a particularly powerful family of antioxidants that a characterised by their deep red/purple hues. Red Kidney Beans are great in chillis, stews and mixed bean salads. Red Kidney Beans must be soaked and cooked before consumption.
