Vitamin K is a fat soluble vitamin which is best known for its role in helping blood to clot or coagulate properly by helping to form the proteins necessary for the blood's clotting factor. The K comes from its German name “Koagulations” vitamin. It plays an important role in bone health - as one of the main vitamins involved in bone mineralisation, it increases the amount of a specific protein required to maintain bone calcium.

Vitamin K also supports heart health by helping to prevent calcification of arteries. It works by carrying calcium out of the arteries and not allowing it to form into hard, dangerous plaque deposits.
