A herbaceous, perennial plant native to Europe, North Africa & Central Asia, with small, downy-haired grey leaves and clusters of white flowers. White Horehound is a bitter herb, belonging to the mint family, whose use is believed to date as far back as the 1st century BC. The Romans praised it as an effective remedy for its expectorant qualities, and in modern times it is often used in herbal lozenges and cough syrups with a distinctive flavour described as similar to menthol or root beer.
