Yellow Dock

Native to Europe and Asia, Yellow Dock leaves are commonly harvested as spring greens, and the root has a long history of use in many traditional herbal systems. It is a perennial herb belonging to the Polygonaceae family, commonly referred to as the "knotweed" family. This family also includes rhubarb, buckwheat, and sorrel. Mature yellow dock stands no more than 4 feet tall and is reddish-brown in colour.

Classed as a bitter herb, Yellow Dock Root has been extensively used as a digestive aid and a general tonic for overall health and well-being. This mineral rich root is also abundant in many beneficial plant compounds known for their cleansing and calming qualities.

Curled Dock

Yellow dock root tea can be made into a hot drink by decocting thed dried yellow dock root into boiling water. Use 1-2 teaspoons per cup of boiling water and steep for 3-10 minutes depending on taste. Then strain and serve.

Serving:

1-2 teaspoons dried root per 1 cup of boiling water, up to 3 times a day.

Contraindications:

Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not take yellow dock root.

Over consumption may result in upset stomach.

Yellow Dock Root Tea is produced from mature yellow dock that have been specially farmed for their roots. After the roots have been dug up and cleaned they are inspected for animal damage and selected for the best specimens to be cut and made into root tea. The selected roots are then dehydrated until there is little moisture in the plant material. The dried yellow dock root is then tested for pollutants before being made ready for shipping.

Yellow Dock Root Tincture can be added to water or fruit juice and taken when required.

Traditionally Taken: 2-3ml taken 2-3 times per day, or as directed by a Herbal Practitioner.

Contraindications:

Do not exceed recommended dose - overconsumption of Yellow Dock can cause nausea, diarrhoea and stomach cramps.

Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
